Professor
Oscar Ruiz (Coordinator until July 2023) was born in Tunja,
Colombia. He obtained B.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Eng. (1983) and
Computer Science (1987) at Los Andes University, Bogota, Colombia, a
M.Sc. degree with emphasis in CAM (1991) and a Ph.D. with emphasis in
CAD (1995) from the Mechanical & Industrial Eng. Dept. of
University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, USA. Dr. Ruiz has held
Visiting Researcher positions at Ford Motor Co. (Dearborn, USA. 1993
and 1995), Fraunhofer Inst. Graphische Datenverarbeitung (Darsmstad,
Germany 1999 and 2001), University of Vigo (1999 and 2002), Max Planck
Institute for Informatik (2004) and Purdue University (2009). In 1996
Dr. Ruiz was appointed as Faculty of the Mechanical Eng. and Computer
Science Depts. at EAFIT University, Medellin, Colombia, and was in
1996-2023 the Coordinator of the Laboratory for interdisciplinary
Research on CAD / CAM / CAE. Now Emeritus Prof. Oscar Ruiz Salguero
continues advising pupils and technology companies / institutions in
the domains of Computational Geometry applied to Design, Manufacturing,
Computer Graphics, Medical Imaging, Computational Mechanics, Geometric

Associate
Professor Carlos Cadavid was born
in Medellin,
Colombia, where he obtained a bachellors degree in
Mathematics at the Universidad Nacional (1988). He obtained a Masters
degree from the University of Cincinnati (1990), and a Ph. D. Degree in
Mathematics in 1998 from the University of Texas at Austin. He is
currently a full time Faculty member at the Universidad EAFIT
(Medelln). His areas of research are the topology of 4-dimensional
manifolds and applications of topology to graphic computation.

Diego Acosta Maya |

Diego
A. Acosta was born at Spartanburg, SC (USA). Dr. Acosta earned
a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Pontificia
Bolivariana (UPB) in Medellin, Colombia and MS and Ph.D degrees in
Chemical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma at Norman,
Oklahoma (USA). Dr. Acosta has worked at Ashland Chemicals, Xerox and
Smurfit Kappa as process engineer.Dr. Acosta is tenured professor of
the Process Engineering department at the Universidad EAFITin Medellin,
Colombia. His research interests include Chemical Process Design,
Mathematical Programming, Advanced Mathematics and Statistics and
Design of Experiments. Prof. Acosta directs the research group Design
and Development of Processes and Products (DDP) and lectures courses in
Statistics, Design of Experiments, Process Engineering Design, Mass
Transfer Laboratory, and Process Engineering Optimization.

Prof. Dr. Inf. Juan G.
Lalinde |

Juan
G. Lalinde was awarded the Andres Bello Prize in 1987 as he ranked 7th
Nationwide in the High School Achievement Test (ICFES). He earned the
Diploma in Computer Science from EAFIT University (1992) and
the
Diploma in Mathematics from Colombia National University (1995) campus
Medellin. He obtained the Dr. Eng. degree from Polytechnical
University of Valencia - Spain (2000). Dr. Lalinde was
Visiting
Researcher with the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition - IHMC at
Pensacola, USA. Since 2005 Prof. Lalinde is Advisor for
the Chapter on Electronics, Telecommunications
and Informatics (ETI) of the Colombian Council for Ciences and
Technology (Colciencias). Prof. Lalinde was Head of the Department of
Computer Science at EAFIT University until 2005 and it is currently
Head of the Graduate Studies Program at the Computer Science Department
and member of the Board of the Doctorate in Engineering at EAFIT. He is
currently Vice-president of the Colombian Society of Computing (SCo2).
Prof. Lalinde's research interests are Analysis of Complexity,
Algorithmics, Information Retrieval and Security. |

Dr. Ing. Jorge
Leon Posada |
|
| Dr.
Jorge Posada is Associate Director at Vicomtech (Visual Interaction and
Communication Technologies Centre) since 2001. He earned a Ph.D. in
Computer Science & Engineering from the Technische Universitaet
Darmstadt (Germany), an Executive MBA from IE Business School (Spain),
and a degree in Mechanical Engineering (honors) from EAFIT University
(Colombia) under the supervision of Prof. Oscar Ruiz. After working for
4 years as full-time researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for
Computer Graphics (Germany), he joined in 2001 the R&D centre
Vicomtech (Spain) as Associate Director. His research interests are in
computer graphics, engineering and multimedia technologies applied to
the industry. He has co-authored more than 50 publications and has been
co-director of several Ph.D. Thesis. He is member of the Editorial
Board of the Journal Multimedia Tools and Applications (Springer). He
is also active in scientific conferences such as ACM Web3D 2013
(General Chair), ACM Web3D 2012 (General Co-Chair) and Knowledge
Engineering Systems KES 2012 (General Co-Chair).

Dr. Ing. Jorge
Correa Panesso |

| Jorge
Correa Panesso joined the CAD CAM CAE
Laboratory-EAFIT in January 2008, under the supervision of Prof. Dr.
Oscar Ruiz - Salguero, starting with the Teaching Assistantship for the
course Introduction to CAD CAM Systems. Jorge Correa condusted research
on compilant mechanisms modelled as Bernoulli Kinematic Chains on
and Assur groups under the co-supervision of the (then) doctoral
student Sebastian Durango Idarraga. .
Jorge's Graduation Project, supervised by Prof. Ruiz and M.Sc.
Sebastian Durango obtained in 2010 the Meritory B.Sc. Graduation
Project Award from
EAFIT. In 2011 Jorge Correa undertook a Visiting Scholar
Internship in the Mechanical Engineering Department
at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, (UIUC), under the
supervision of Prof. Placid M. Ferreira. Jorge then enrolled as a
M.Sc./Ph.D. student in such a program at UIUC, specializing in the
design and fabrication of flexible and MEMS systems for
precision engineering applications such as micro force sensors,
data
storage devices, scanning probe microscopy actuators, micro optical
lens scanners and nanoindentors. In 2018, Jorge Correa earned the Ph.D.
degree of UIUC under the supervision of Prof. Ferreira. Prof.
Ferreira and Dr. Ing. Jorge Correa Panesso are founding members of
Cohesive Manufacturing, a joint venture for Cloud-supported
Manufacturing. Dr. Jorge Correa started in June 2020 the program
Graduate Student Intenship to host EAFIT M.Sc. / Ph.D. students in
Cohesive Manufacturing under the joint supervision with Prof. Oscar
Ruiz-Salguero (U. EAFIT).

Dr. Ing. Xoan Anjo Leiceaga Baltar (R+D+I partner) |

In Memoriam. Xoan
Angel Leiceaga Baltar obtained the degree of Industrial
Engineer
(1969) and the PhD (1984) from the Technological Institute
(ETS)
of the Polytechnical University in Madrid. In 1990 Dr. Leiceaga was
promoted to Habilitated Professor
(Prof. Catedratico) of the University of Vigo, founding the GED (Design
and Engineering Group) of U. Vigo. Prof. Leiceaga agressively led
the technology
transfer,
research, development and innovation of University of Vigo and the
state of Galicia, Spain. He is holder of 5 patents in the
areas
of garment handling, ergonomics, devices for
wheelchair
and mechanisms for services of handicaped people. Prof
Leiceaga was
coauthor of 5 books on the topic geometric modeling
and
norms for graphics expresion in desing and manufacturing. He was
member of the editorial board of several international journals on
these topics and consultant of european and latinamerican governments
in the areas of technology transfer, research, development and
innovation. Prof . Leiceaga leaded more than
100
industry projects leveraging significant resources from industry in
areas as diverse as fishing, garment, automotion, shipyards, geometric
tolerancing, dimensional control, biomechanics, ergonomics, training
with virtual reality, etc. He was chairman and
founding member of the engineering hi-tech transfer companies UMANA and
AZTECA, based in Galicia, Spain. Prof. Leiceaga was co-author
of
more than 50 refereed publications, and doctoral
supervisor for many doctorands and organizer of more than 100
cientific and engineering conferences and events and hosted in the
GED group tens of visitings researchers from Europe and Latinamerica. |

Jens
Jensen graduated from the Ingenieurakademie BEUTH, Berlin (West)
Germany in the field “Construction of Power Machinery and
Machine
Tools (1968). He worked in the firm MAN AG as constructor of high-speed
Diesel engines. Jens Jensen obtained the Diplom (M.Sc.) from the
Technische Universitaet Berlin (1974) with a M.Sc. Thesis on
Vibration and Dynamic of Machines. He earned the Ph.D. in Engineering
in 1980 from Technische Universitaet Berlin with a Dissertation
on Parametric Vibrations in Mechanical Systems for Mining
Exploration under
supervision of Profs. Dr.- Ing. W. Stuehler and Dr.- Ing. H.
Pfuetzner. In the period 1980 to 1992 Dr. Ing. Jens Jensen
worked
as Faculty in Santander Industrial University (UIS) in Bucaramanga,
Colombia and private consultant in Bogotá, Colombia. Since
1992
Prof. Jensen has been Faculty of the University of Applied Sciences
(Hochschule) Bremen –HS Bremen-, in the Department
Maschinenbau
(Mechanical Engineering) in the areas Piston Machines, Machine
Dynamics, Machine Energy and Hydraulic Machines. In 2007 Prof. Jensen
was habilitated by EAFIT University to supervise and sign Doctoral
Theses. He is the HS-Bremen liaison for several scientific
collaboration programs between EAFIT and HSBremen.

Lopez was born in Medellin, Colombia.
Where he obtained a bachellor degree in Design engineering
at the Universidad Nacional (1989). He obtained a Master of Sience in
2001 from the Buffalo State University. He has work in "Dina
Ingenieria" (1989-1994), working as design
engineer. Also he has
provided his services to Lord Corporation (2001-2002) as a design
engineer.
He begin to work in CAD CAM CAE Laboratory, in January 2003.
His areas of research is analysis
of compound mechanics, and design mechanic.

Durango |

Sebastian
Durango (Manizales, Colombia). He obtained B.Sc. degrees in
Mechanical Engineering (2000) at Universidad Autonoma de Manizales,
Manizales, Colombia, and a M.Sc. degree with emphasis in Automatic
Systems of Production (2006) at Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira,
Pereira, Colombia. Since 2002 Sebastian is a full
time
faculty member with the Mechanics and Production Department at
Universidad Autonoma de Manizales. In 2007 Sebastian joined the CAD CAM
CAE Laboratory as Doctoral student with Prof. Oscar Ruiz as Advisor.
Sebastian is a visiting researcher at the Technical University Denmark
(April-July 2009) in the Engineering School.
Sebastian's interests are Mechanism and Machine Science and Robotics.
Sebastian Durango earned his Ph.D. degree in March 2011 with the Thesis
'Assessment of intended deformations and kinematic identification of
parallel mechanisms under quasi-static conditions' (Ph.D. Supervisor Prof.
Oscar Ruiz). Sebastian Durango is currently Professor at Universidad Autonoma de Manizales, Colombia.

Edgar Congote Calle (Medellin,
Colombia,
1982-2017) was a Computer
Science student at EAFIT University, and research assistant in the
CAD/CAM/CAE Laboratory EAFIT since 2007. John successfully
participated in several
programming competitions since 1996. John Congote obtained the M.Sc. in
Informatics with Honors in June 2009 with his work in the
Institute for Visual Communication
Technologies -Vicomtech- in San Sebastian, Spain (2008-2009). His M.Sc.
Thesis researched in Computational Geometry applied to CAD and Computer
Vision. John Congote was based in Vicomtech for the duration of his
PhD. John's main
interest
areas are
algorithms, computational geometry, computer graphics and programming
languages. John Congote earned his Ph.D. degree in June 2013 with
the Thesis
'Geometry and Topology Extraction and Visualization from Scalar and
Vector Fields', under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ing. Oscar Ruiz
(EAFIT) and Dr. Ing. Jorge Posada (Vicomtech). John Congote
successfully contributed to Web Visualization algorithms and standards.

Dr. Ing. Camilo Cortes Acosta |

| Camilo
Cortes Acosta was born in Bogota, Colombia. Camilo
obtained the Diploma in Mechatronics from Escuela de Ingenieria de
Antioquia (Colombia) in 2010. He immediately joined the M.Sc. program
of Universidad EAFIT in the Laboratory of CAD CAM CAE under the
supervision of Prof. Dr. Oscar Ruiz. From 11-2011 to 07-2014, Camilo
Cortes executed a research internship in the Institute for Visual
Communication
Technologies -Vicomtech- in San Sebastian, Spain as part of his M.Sc.
and Ph.D. studies. In December 2012 Camilo Cortes earned the M.Sc.
degree under the supervision of Dr. Ing. Oscar Ruiz, with the Thesis
'Computational Geometry in Medical Applications'. Camilo Cortes
earned the Ph.D. degree from U. EAFIT in 07-2016. His Ph.D. Thesis
focuses on Computational Geometry Applied to Medicine (Ph.D.
Supervisors Prof.
Oscar Ruiz (EAFIT) and Prof. Julian Florez (Vicomtech, Spain)). His
research interests are Robotics (emphasis in Medical and Health
applications), Mechatronics, Applied Computational Geometry and

Mejia Parra obtained in 2013 the B.Sc. in Mathematics Engineering from
U. EAFIT. For his M.Sc., Daniel Mejia joined in Jannuary 2014 the
Laboratory of CAD CAM CAE U.EAFIT under the supervision of Prof. Dr.
Oscar Ruiz - Salguero, where he conducted research on parameterization,
segmentation and Laplace Beltrami application on 2-manifolds in
R3. Daniel Mejia conducted a M.Sc. Internship in Vicomtech
(Visual Interaction and Communication Technologies Centre), Spain,
under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Oscar Ruiz (U. EAFIT) and Dr. Ing
Aitor Moreno (Vicomtech). Daniel earned the EAFIT M.Sc. degree in July
2016 with a project on Analytic and FEA computations of Heat Transfer
on thin plates under Laser Heating (D. Mejia, A. Moreno, O. Ruiz, I.
Barandiaran). In August 2016, Daniel Mejia joined the Ph.D. program at
U. EAFIT. In 06-2020, Daniel Mejia earned the Ph.D. degree in
Engineering with the Thesis Application of Differential Operators
on Manifolds to CAD CAM and Computer Graphics (Supervisors: Prof. O.
Ruiz -EAFIT- and Dr. Ing.
Jorge Posada -Vicomtech-). Upon Ph.D. graduation in 2020, Dr. Ing. Daniel Mejia

Prof. Oscar Ruiz, with the topic 'Efficient Geometrical and Mechanical
Modeling of Porous and Lattice Materials'. In
December 2018, Diego Montoya earned the M.Sc. a Ph.D. (Nov
2022) in Engineering
from U. EAFIT under the direction of
Prof. Dr. Oscar Ruiz Salguero (U. EAFIT) and Dr. Ing. Jorge Posada
Velasquez (Vicomtech Spain) on the topic Additive Design and

Uribe
Gallo was born in Manizales, Colombia. In 2005 David
joined the CAD CAM CAE Laboratory EAFIT as teaching and
research assistant under Prof. Dr. Ruiz' supervision. David obtained
the B.Ing degree in Machinebauingenierie from Hochschule Bremen
(Germany) in 2010 and the Mechanical Engineering Diploma from
Universidad EAFIT, Colombia, in 2011, under supervision of Profs.
Uwe Reinert, Jens Jensen and Oscar Ruiz. In
June 2013 David Uribe earned simultaneous M.Sc. degrees from U.
EAFIT and Ruhr Universitaet Bochum (RUB - Germany) under the
supervision of Profs. Holger Steeb
(RUB) and Oscar Ruiz (EAFIT) with the topic 'Assessment of Effective
Properties of Multi-phase Materials'. He is currently Ph.D.
student in Universitaet Stuttgart, Germany (Supervisor Prof. Dr. Ing.
Holger Steeb). David Uribe is Software Engineer at Baker Hughes General
Electric Germany. David's main

Camila Osorno was born in Medellin, Colombia. She joined the
Laboratory of CAD CAM CAE at U. EAFIT in March 2011, as grader and
teaching auxiliar for the course Introduction to CAD CAM Sytems, under
the supervision of Prof . Dr. Oscar Ruiz. In 2011-2 and 2012-1
she supervised junior students in processing of geometrical information
of latticed materials for mechanistic modeling of material proerties,
in collaboration with the Laboratorium Kontinuumsmechanik -
Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum, Germany (Prof. Steeb, Dr. Jaenicke, M.Sc.
David Uribe). Maria Camila also developed code for calculation of
the Laplacian of eigenfunctions on 2-manifolds, under supervision of
Prof. Dr. Math. Carlos Cadavid (Lab CAD CAM CAE. U. EAFIT), with
applications in CAD and Physics. Maria Camila earned her B.Sc.
degree in Mechanical Engineering from U. EAFIT in December 2012. Maria
Camila earned her M.Sc. degree from U. EAFIT in 07-2013 (M.Sc.
supervisor Prof. Oscar Ruiz and Prof. H. Steeb from Ruhr Uni. Bochum,
Germany). In Sept 2020, Maria Camila successfully defended her Ph.D.
Thesis Multiscale Modelling of Hydromechanical Coupling in Porous
Media under the supervision of Uni-Stuttgart Professor Dr. Ing. Holger
Steeb.

David was research and teaching assistant in the CAD CAM CAE
Laboratory-EAFIT since 2008 under supervision of Prof. Dr.

Oscar Ruiz. In June 2010 David obtained his Diploma in Mechanical
Engineering from EAFIT University under the supervision of Prof. Oscar
Ruiz and M.Sc. Sebastian Durango. He obtained the M.Sc. degree
from U. EAFIT in 12-2012, withing an Intership in U. Purdue (USA).
Then, David Restrepo entered the Ph.D. program in Purdue University,

Carolina Builes Roldan

| Carolina
Builes Roldan (born in Medellin, Colombia) earned an Industrial
Designer B.A. degree from Pontifical Bolivariana
University (UPB, 2014) at Medellin. In Fall 2014, Carolina
conducted a semester Internship in the studio JAMES
DAWSON INTERIORS, INC. Brisbane Australia on Interior
Design and CAD. Carolina Builes has pursued an
agressive career in Product Desing as employee and as
consultant for home, office and industry accesory
lines. Carolina enrolled in the Master of
Arts in Engineering program at EAFIT University in
2018 (graduation June 2022), under the supervision of Prof. Dr.
Eng.
Oscar Ruiz Salguero, with emphasis in CNC Machining
of non - traditional materials. Her

Camilo Rendon joined the CAD CAM CAE Laboratory in 2018

research trainee in the areas Applied Computational Geometry,
Computational Fluid Dynamics and Dynamic Systems. Cirstian Rendon
underweng a six- month
Research Internship in the Computational Fluid Mechanics
Laboratory
at University of Melbourne, Australia, 2019. Cristian Rendon earned the
B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from U. EAFIT in 06-2020. In 07-2020,
Cristian started a M.Sc. Internship in Cohesive Manufacturing
(USA-Colombia) under the supervision of Dr. Ing, Jorge Correa Panesso
(Cohesive Manufacturing) and Prof. Oscar Ruiz - Salguero (Lab CAD CAM

Velez Sanin joined the CAD CAM CAE Laboratory in 2019 under the
supervision of Prof. Oscar Ruiz Salguero

research trainee in the area of Computational Geometry Applied to
Computational Mechanics. Samuel Velez earned a B.Sc. degree in
Mechanical Engineering at U. EAFIT, with Meritory Mention in June 2020
and its attached M.Sc. Scholarship. In 07-2020, Samuel Velez started
M.Sc. in Engineering studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Oscar

Stella Orozco Ochoa obtained in 2004 the Diploma on Computer Science at
EAFIT University,
Medellin, Colombia. Maria Stella Orozco conducted a Research Internship
( 2003 ) in Fraunhofer Institute of Computer Graphics, Darmstadt
Germany. She wrote her Diplomaarbeit on "Detection of the line of
sight" under supervision of Dr. Ursula Kretschment (Fraunhofer
IDG) and Prof. Dr. O. Ruiz ( Lab. CAD CAM CAE U. EAFIT), obtaining a
Meritory distinction. Maria Stella earned the DEA (Diploma
de Estudios Avanzados) in
History of Science from Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain,
in 2008.
In 2014, Maria Stella Orozco obtained the M.
Sc. degree in Informatics (Meritory Thesis on Data Mining in
2-Manifolds in R3)

Centro Federal de Educacao Tecnologica de Minas Gerais at Leopoldina,
Brazil. In 2018, Bento underwent a 6-month Research Internship at
the the CAD CAM CAE Laboratory
of U. EAFIT under the supervision of Prof.
Dr. Eng. Oscar Ruiz. Bento researched and wrote
a software prototype for Brain Wave processing and training of
Neural Networks for Prehension / Aprehension using a robotic
hand. Bento's research interests are the collection and
processing of brain waves with low cost hardware for application in

Recognition in Integration Engineering and Construction Services
Monterrey, Mexico during 2018 in a joint collaboration. His research

CAD, Computational Fluid Mechanics and Applied Mathematics. In December
2019, Juan Camilo earned the B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from
U. EAFIT, and a Honor Scholarship for M.Sc. at EAFIT for his
undergraduate performance and publications. Juan Camilo is currently
M.Sc. student under the direction of Prof. Ruiz-Salguero (U. EAFIT) and

Dr. Eng. Oscar Ruiz. Mauricio has developed code for omptimized fitting
of parametric curves to noisy point samples, calculation of singular
points in parallel mechanisms, automated reuse of traditional SW for
Web rendering and accelerated rendering of vector fields (oceanic
strames) on Web platforms. Mauricio Aristizabal earned his B.Sc. degree
in Mechanical Engineering from U. EAFIT in December 2012 under the
supervision of Prof. Dr. Ing. Oscar Ruiz. His research interests are

Alejandro
Hoyos Sierra studied Mechanical Engineering at EAFIT University. He
was a research and teaching assistant in the CAD CAM CAE
Laboratory-EAFIT since 2009 under supervision of Prof. Dr. Eng. Oscar
Ruiz, and took Mechanical Engineering courses at Concordia University
in Montreal, Canada during two terms after being selected in the
International Student Exchange Program at EAFIT. He was a Six Sigma
Black Belt while working at Andercol in Medellin, Colombia. Alejandro
Hoyos earned his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from U. EAFIT
in June 2011 under the advisory of Professors

Merlin Barschke
(Borchen, Germany) is a Student of Mechanical Engineering in
Aeronautics at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen (Hohchschule
Bremen -HS Bremen - Germany) since 2005. Merlin is expected to receive
the B.Sc. degree in mechanical Engineering in spring 2009. In
2006 and
2007 he worked in the Laboratory for Energy Technology at HS - Bremen.
In 2007 and 2008 he was research assistant with the Robotics Workgroup
at the German Research Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence GmbH
(Bremen, Germany) where he constructed components and worked
in the
production of space robots. Simultaneously, he worked as tutor of
Engineering Mechanics at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at
HS-Bremen. In the period March - September 2008 Merlin is Research
Intern at the CAD/CAM/CAE Laboratory at EAFIT in the topic "Kinematic
Constraints of Coordinate Systems in Finite Element

Carlos
A. Vanegas (Medellin, Colombia ) earned his diploma in Applied
Mathematics from EAFIT University
(2007), and was a research assistant in the CAD CAD/CAM/CAE Laboratory
from 2004 to 2007, under the supervision of Prof. Oscar Ruiz. He has
been research
intern in the Department of Engineering and Design, at the
University of Vigo, Spain (2005 and 2006) developing
software for the shipyard industry in Galicia, Spain. Carlos
Vanegas' Diploma Graduation (2007) Project was supervised by
Prof. Oscar Ruiz and Prof. Xoan Leiceaga (University of Vigo), and
received Honors Distinction from EAFIT University. In 2012 Carlos
Vanegas obtained the Ph.D. degree at the Computer Graphics and
Visualization Lab at Purdue University
under the supervision of Prof. Daniel Aliaga. In 2010 Carlos Vanegas
was visiting researcher in
the ETH (EidgenoessischeTechnische Hochschule) - Zuerich.
Aferwards, Carlos Vanegas underwent a Post-doctoral Scholarship at the University of California, Berkeley,

developed at the CAD CAM CAE Laboratory since 1996. Sebastian
Schrader earned a Diploma Degree in Production Engineering
in December 1999, being awarded the Honorific Mention for an
Undergraduate Thesis as a result of his participation in the
development of DigitLAB, under direction of Prof. Oscar Ruiz. In 2000
he joined the M.Sc. program in General Engineering at the University of

Pena Serna (Manizales, Colombia) is a

(graduation date June 2005). In May 2002 he joined to the CAD / CAM /
CAE Laboratory at EAFIT. Sebastian was invited by the Department of
Signal Theory and Communication of the University of Vigo, Spain for
the period June 01, 2003 - January 30, 2004 for software development on
the geometric aspects of electromagnetic simulation on vehicles and
housing. This topic became part of his undergraduate B.Sc. Thesis. His
